Keeping it Simple

With 4 weeks to go, we really have not bought much for Baby E’s arrival.  This week we bought a Graco stroller/car seat combo and a travel playyard/day bed from Babyshop (who could resist their wonderful sale last month!).

We struggled with buying anything because the selection across the board was either not good quality or too over the top.  As my husband said, “I just need a safe car seat and a stroller that goes in a straight line when I push it.  I don’t need one that converts into a rocket ship!”  And he’s right.  Some of these strollers seriously function as if they were straight from the movie Transformers.  And with the pricetag to match.

The thing is, I’m not that fussy.  I understand that this is our last child and luckily, we don’t need a lot of things.  All our newborn to 6 month clothes have been passed down by my sister-in-law.  As Baby E and Little S grow older, Baby E will receive all of Little S’s hand-me-downs.  Although it would be nice to have a fancy crib, comfy glider chair, 15-in-one stroller and whatever else modern mommies bless their dear little ones with…we are going to keep it simple.

So save a couple of blankets and pajamas, a digital thermometer and a couple other knick knacks, I think that’s going to do it for our big baby shopping extravaganza.  I’m actually relieved.
